A Quick Word From Yours Truly

Hi, welcome to PJ's blog.

If you've checked out the "About Me" bit you'll see I'm a keen amateur photographer who enjoys all things digital. I mostly like photographing plants and landscapes as they are easy targets ;-) I used to work in Software which sounds more exciting than it is but am now officially a Snr. Project Planner having changed jobs after almost 25yrs in Software. I sometimes wish I could work in photography but that would probably become boring if I did it day in and day out. I used to sponsor a wolf called Luna until she sadly passed away, and love all things "wolfy". Anyhow enjoy the blog and hopefully I'll manage to keep it up to date with what I've been doing and my favourite things!

Mum's Lifeboat On A Shout!

So this is the Agnes AP Barr Lifeboat stationed at Invergordon that Mum's name is on. This image is from her first shout I believe. It was on the RNLI email anyway with an update on her progress so far. Mum's name is on the Starboard side, the second number 3. Along with a myriad of other names to be remembered just as much by their families.

Mum didn't have a particular affinity for the RNLI but she couldn't swim having been frightened at a swimming session when she ended up under the water. She was keen for me and my brother to learn to swim though and my Dad taught us, Mum watching from the safety of the spectators area. So the RNLI seemed like a good way to mark another year passing last year when they announced what I think was their first Launch a Memory fund raising event.

I've also done another for Margaret for the 2021 Launch a Memory Appeal, her name will be on the next Shannon boat going to Wells Lifeboat Station and this boat is to be named in memory of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. How cool is that? This entry marks losing Margaret to Dementia earlier this year and again seemed like a worthy cause to donate to, especially as the main donations in her memory raised over £500 for Dementia UK.
